I scared myself today. I had my first singing class, so simply sang some scales to check the range of my voice. At one point I couldn't the reach the highest note anymore. No big deal, we were only checking out how far my voice would take me. That was to the high do. I didn't know I could do that. It slightly freaked me out I could do that. Proof is there at least: I'm a Soprano (and randomly run around killing people).

Other completely unrelated news: I start teaching in primary school on Wednesday. I'll be working a bit more than halftime. Although I prefer the secondary students to the little kids, I'm glad I can get off my butt. I've taught primary school before, so I'll manage.

Thank you.

I'm starting out a bit later than other teachers, but at least I'm starting out!

Eek, I don't think I could be a soprano, I can hardly reach any high notes anymore. I used to sing quite well when I was younger but since I've stopped practicing, it's all gone downhill!

I'll be crossing my fingers and holding my thumbs for you on Wednesday. :-)

That's the funny thing actually. I assumed it all went pretty much downhill for me since I stopped singing in a choir, but this evening my teacher played those scales and I simply sang them along. It was frightening to realise I could do that without having much practice.

Okay, I do sing along to the radio all the time, but that's not the same as classical singing.

Congrats on the singing and also on landing a job - hey, primary school children are cute (and less smelly than the older students).
What are you teaching? Some sort of ethics/morals course?

Yeah, they are cute little kids. Also very fun and sweet.

I'm still teaching non-confessional morality, but on primary level. In case you're wondering: Belgian state schools are pluralistic, which means students can follow the religious course of their choice. De facto this is a choice between Roman-Catholic, Protestant, Anglican, Orthodox, Israƫlic religion, Islam and a non-confessional moralic course that's based on humanistic principles. The teachers of these classes are the only ones that aren't bound by a vow of neutrality in their classroom.
