Female Dominance
Aug. 17th, 2005 03:03 pmMichael Buerk, newsreader at that British broadcasting institution called the BBC, is quite certain women are taking over the world. Not only do they hold chief posts at diverse broadcasting networks and hence decide what we see and hear on tv and radio, but men are (gasp!) feminizing. Multitasking is the norm and women perform better on this. "Oh no!" Buerk says, "Men will become superfluous and their only task will be to provide semen."
I wish I was living in Buerk's world, because frankly I hardly can believe the influence of women is as dominating as he says it is. It might be a consequence of a difference in perception: once you are focused on something you see it everywhere. I'm more focused on the still prevailing male dominance, so I won't see it when the females are starting to take over.
And that's a load of crap to try and comprehend, to try and explain someone who so clearly states he doesn't understand women. For Buerk typically male characteristics are classified as more important than what is considered typically female. I say considering something typically male or female is stupid to begin with. Yes certain things are more easily met in a woman than in a man, but it isn't so that men and women are that different that what you, Mr Buerk, consider as valuable male behaviour will dissapear when there's a woman on top.
Just the other day my newspaper wrote that the number of women in top management positions is declining again. I think Michael Buerk can sleep in peace.

Thank you so much!

"All they are is sperm donors, and most women aren't going to want an unemployable sperm donor loafing around and making the house look untidy."
GAH! So, that's his perception of the dad at home? Well, in my book (and my experience) that sperm donor had better do some cleaning up! (And while he's at it take care of the laundry, the ironing and the cooking.)
