Canada Pictures Part 1: Montréal

The old port, now converted to a park and a nice place to stroll and watch American citytrippers.

Place des Arts.The Jazz-festival was in full swing in Montréal at that point, hence the big ball on the square.
La Tour de Montréal

This tower is part of the olympique stadium and can be seen from the botanical gardens nearby.
(Montréal by night...)At the Canadian Centre for Achitecture we stumbled upon work by Douglas Coupland. This installation is named Super City and is a view on how the building kits we explored as a kid influence the way we build our cities.

Old and New: Montréal has been rebuilt on many occasions (like most cities), but the churches will never be demolished.

Date: 2005-08-16 06:44 am (UTC)The library in Québec is even better. It doesn't look that good, but you can get a reader's card there that allows you to go on the internet for two hours a week and you don't have to live in the city. For free!
