One year ago
Apr. 26th, 2005 10:39 amI wrote my first entry. Okay, I missed it by a week, but that's because I didn't realise I actually wrote something on the day I made my LJ. Like most first entries in journals it wasn't much more than "Today I, Frances, am starting a journal." (That were the actual words I used when I started the third (and final) version of my paper journal back in December 1992.)
Since that fatal day, more than a year ago, I have written 264 entries, of which 25 were good enough to be remembered. I don't rant as much as I used to. The fact that there actually is an audience out there makes me think more before I write something down. The criterium I use for putting things in words is this: Can I make a good story out of it? I stole it from Steve at onepotmeal, whose blog is a place for little real life stories.
Making up stories takes time. It's probably the reason why I don't comment much on current events. I have a hard time figuring out what my opinion is and when I finally have something to say it's old news again. I'll never be a good journalist, but I'm a good journal-writer. I like the little audience that comes here and reads. Thanks for your feedback and encouragement. Even if it's only a little remark: "You're so quiet on your blog?"
