The educational photo-post #3
Sep. 3rd, 2013 09:41 pmChilling out after a full teaching day frequently means catching up on cartoons with Little Bit. September is the start of Autumn schedule and new cartoons on Ketnet, our go-to children's channel. One of those new cartoons had me listening attentively at what was going on. It's called De vraag van Mily (freely translated as Mily has a question) and features nine year old Mily asking deep questions on the nature of things. Huh? Mily is doing philosophy with kids? Some digging on the internet taught me that Mily is an original cartoon from France 5 and deputed early this year (Mily Miss Questions). It is indeed conceived as an easy in to teach young children about philosophical questioning. Its style is a fun blend of real life pictures and cartoon figures. (You can view some additional images at the above link.) Best of all you can watch some cartoons at ketnet.be (no link because I don't know whether this works outside Belgium). I have found a new starting point for some of my lessons.
The educational photo-post wants to be an inspiration for teachers and non-teachers. It appears every teaching day of the Flemish school year.

I was just curious whether the clips on that page were viewable outside Germany because they do have some very nice music and stories and so on - but definitely for kids younger than primary school! I love this one (http://www.wdrmaus.de/elefantenseite/#/lieder_der_mopsige_mops) as well.
