Yesterday Little Bit and I went to a performance at the Musical Instruments Museum. We listened to baroque music by Marin Marais played on a viola da gamba and a theorbo. A storyteller brought the music to life and urged the children on the listen, watch, smell, taste and feel the music. Every now and then a kid would get picked to do something on stage. Numerous fingers went up high in the air. Not Little Bit's. She sat and watched and consumed it all. But right at the end of the performance, when the storyteller invited all the children on stage to come dance with her, Little Bit was the first to race forward. When I wanted to urge her on to go join the other kids, she was already forming a circle. My girl isn't as shy as I sometimes believe she is.
