One of the tasks I'd set for myself this new school year, was finally Getting Things Done. I want to get rid of the feeling of having forgotten something and not being able to put my finger on it. So I installed Things on the Mac and on my iPod touch and started to feed it every little task I need to do. After a couple of weeks of good use, I'm still getting to know the software, but it did make my life easier: no more little bits of paper with tasks written on them, no more crowded memory of what I should do when. I do have to get used to scheduling tasks beforehand, to make sure I don't end up with long lists of stuff I need to pick and choose from.
Syncing with the iPod touch is very easy, but has had some hiccups. Fortunately the help wiki is very good and provided me with immediate answers to solve the problem. They did the job at first, but I came across some more problems and needed to reinstall the backup database. Again the process was very well explained. I only lost those tasks I made today – nothing I wouldn't think of later.
So nowadays when I get home and sit behind my computer, I check the tasks in Things first. It's very fulfilling to be able to check off task after task on a busy day. The design is sleek and straightforward. You're quickly into the habit of putting every little thing that needs to be done into the program. While using it you only realise how much you can get out of it.
