First weeks at home
Jul. 9th, 2010 10:09 pmAlthough I've been back in Brussels for almost two weeks now, I haven't really talked about how it feels to be home good and proper. Probably because P. didn't join us until Wednesday evening, I was unable to fully grasp the many mixed feelings that come with being in Brussels again. Home also equals work and finally getting some things in order in the apartment that we've been putting off for the last two years. It feels like my holidays are over before they start.
Arriving in Brussels at the start of the Summer holidays has been fabulous. I don't have to dive into the big bustling city at once. Lots of immigrants have taken their leave, and lots of work-folk from the provinces are gone as well. The city is quieter than how I left it. The nagging feeling that has accompanied me these last few weeks, isn't linked to returning and being confronted with the pessimistic side of the city. Realising the things that need to be done clash with what I want, I become mad at everything and everyone. There's this well of anger bubbling inside me, and I snap at who-ever dares to cross me. Some will say it's the heat that's been taking it's toll, but I believe it's only me, and that some change is desperately needed.
