I seem to have too much time on my hands, here in Oxford. I spend it trawling the internet, and then I come across this, and can't help thinking that I can do that as well, and will enjoy doing that as well. This sends me further trawling the internet looking for patterns to crochet, and translation sites because the best patterns are written in English. But then I need yarn as well, and where oh where do I find it in Oxford (answer: here)?
On Wednesday I bought me some beautiful skeins of yarn and declared to P. I'd crochet him a scarf, based on a pattern for a striped scarf I'd found. This evening I finished the scarf* and felt very accomplished. P. loves it. I think it's a bit short, but he insists it's just right. I simply prefer my scarves to be longer.
Now I'm very hungry to crochet more things. The feeling of accomplishment can become very addictive. Unfortunately yarn is expensive and you need so much of it to make something decent. So I'll make presents for tinier people. Friends with little babies always appreciate a home-made gift. And Little Bit hasn't got the right age yet to complain about the home-made stuff she must wear.

*Pictures will follow when I've got better lighting conditions.
