Recently Little Bit has discovered that if she doesn't want to, she can refuse to do certain things. Sometimes this results in little tantrums that are quickly forgotten when she discovers something else that needs her full attention. Other moments she tries to get her way in more sophisticated manners. Having had tea in a nearby ice cream parlour, she wriggles herself off my lap to go explore. Totally satisfied with what's inside the establishment, she gets her coat from the stroller and walks off towards the door, waving bye bye. How cute she looks with her wide smile telling everyone she's off and that Mama can join her if she likes. So Mama pays the bill and off they go to the park.
On Monday Little Bit needed all the signs and stares and pointers she could muster to get her Mama to the kitchen and show her where the chocolate Easter eggs were. Mama had plainly forgotten about those, even though LB had eaten one only a moment before. "No," Mama says, "you can't have another Easter egg." She tries yelling and crying, becoming all red in the face, and squinting her eyes just so that tears would appear. Every now and then she pauses to breath and check if I might say yes now. Which I don't, so of course she cries some more until she gives up and we play a silly game.
