My family is like that, too - can't compare it yet to taking care of a little one, but boy are they high maintenance. Even being a guest at their place can leave you shattered.
They weren't like that before LB arrived! We thought we could hand her over to her grandparents and have some quiet time. But instead we simply got some sleep time when LB went for a walk with P.'s parents. We were knackered!
I fear both the worst and best in that regard. There's huge potential for meddling, but also the expectation, no desire, to be used as a babysitter... I just hope that there won't be too much competition between the two sets of grandparents..
I'm very glad no-one meddles, not my parents, not P.'s. The only thing I don't really like is that P.'s parents live a lot closer than mine, so we usually ask them for babysitting jobs etc. My sister mostly asks my parents to come over, because they're quite a bit younger than the other grandparents and can come to Brussels a lot easier. And sometimes I'm left with the feeling my Mama actually prefers we take advantage of the vicinity of P.'s parents, and I'm kind of scared LB will end up being more at home there than at my parent's place. I notice how my nieces totally adore my Mama. I so want LB to have that too. But she's still so little. She doesn't really prefer one person above another just yet.
