From Twelve Till Two (part 1)
Jul. 29th, 2009 11:02 pmDolores wasn’t brave when she closed the door behind her. It was simply a habit of hers: ignoring reality she’d slump in front of her PC-screen. Only the cool kids owned a Macbook or an iMac or even a Dell. Dolores typed away at some white product her brother had configured for her. It was old and clunky and in desperate need of updating. Dolores wouldn’t think of parting with it. It suited her needs. She’d only recently hooked the machine up to a new flat-screen monitor. Its clunkiness mirrored Dolores curves. That’s what they called it these days: curvy. Dolores had always said she was just plain fat. She had never really made peace with this body. She’d never found the right clothes that were able to bring her inner sexy goddess out. Her bras were two sizes too small, her tees too large. Sexiness was only played out in words on the sticky keyboard where bread-crumbs lived between letters, hyphens and numbers.
