For once I decided to actually go out and do one of my crazy ideas in school: I'm recording a radio play with my second graders. Yesterday evening I wrote a story using the children's prompts, making sure everyone had a part. Today we read through it and they totally loved it, taking their pages home with them to rehearse. I adore my class.

That is such a cool idea, and impressive that you got it together in a day! What's the play about?

Creative teachers are worth their weight in gold, imo. It makes school so much more enjoyable for the pupils.

The play is about a princess who needs to rescue her brother and her kingdom from a wicked witch. At one point she gets turned into a cat and must kiss a frog to return to her human form. Really, it's all very silly, but fun.

Hee! Please tell me the princess is named Buffy. ;)

No. But the kids didn't catch where I got her name.

No, I "translated" the kid's name who's had the accident (she's in that class). The radio play came as an idea to make something for her, but I didn't tell the class. I'm just going to look what comes of it, and then I'll make an extra CD for L.

Sounds like lots of fun - hard work, but so worth it.

They'll love it and remember it for ages.

I've done a play with my then second graders three years ago. Now they're at the end of fifth grade and they still talk about it.

I hope it'll be as good as I want it to be.
