This one's for the inhabitants of the Great British isles: You may have noticed we are moving to your region this Summer. P. is even getting payed to spend a whole year in Oxford. Unfortunately I'll have to return because of work- and money-related shit, but that's not the story I meant to tell. The question that needs asking is simple: What are our possibilities for an internet connection? P. will only need it for a year. A landline might be an option, but isn't necessary since we can use Skype or other VoIP solutions. So what's cheapest/easiest to use/quickly installed? Thanks in advance for all your good advice.

We'll leave around the 10th of July and will return around the 24th of August. P. will go back to Oxford somewhere early September, and then there will be a lot of travelling back and forth until April when I'll be taking parental leave for three months, and we'll be living in Oxford full time until the end of June 2010. All this still has to be arranged as we don't even have a place to stay yet (P. will solve that problem on Tuesday).

Virgin Media could be your best bet. It's a cable-based service, so you don't need to have a landline (though you can choose to) and they're usually pretty quick to get set up.

We've had Virgin for almost a year now and the service has been very reliable, and we get the speed we were promised (20 mb/s, though you can pay different amounts for different speeds.)

Yes, absolutely! You could take a trip out to London, or we could come up to you, whatever you'd prefer! Let me know what time would be good for you; with the move and everything, you're bound to be busier than we are. :-)

I'll probably will only be busy the first couple of days and then potter around like I usually do during Summer break. But with Little Bit I'll try to go out more. So I'll let you know and we'll fix a date. :-)
