Belly Update
Oct. 28th, 2008 08:44 pmIn my last post
sister_luck commented on my absence from LJ. It's probably partly due to playing online games, watching Deadwood, and well then there's Little Bit. Look how much she's grown.

That one is taken from the last ultrasound I had on the 15th. That's 32 weeks far into my pregnancy. Now I'm 34 weeks and 2 days, and according to the gynaecologist who saw me last week, my belly is a bit "small". The ultrasound showed a healthy baby with a normal weight of 1,850kg, so everything is all right growth-wise and the small belly is just that. The bladder infection I had, and for which the gynaecologist prescribed antibiotics, wasn't that right though. In case you're wondering: I didn't know I had an infection. It just showed up in my urine sample. If you feel pressure on your bladder when you're pregnant it's more likely to be a head. Head's down by the way, and I still feel her regularly, even though she's a quiet little thing. Just six more weeks and then I'll probably hold a tiny little baby in my arms. As will P., who's getting fed up with missing out on kicks and not being able to carry the baby around.
And to add: the strange questions continue. On Sunday I got: "Are you planning to give birth naturally?" It took me half a second to realise the person wondered whether the birth would be induced or a C-section or something like that. I nearly answered: "Aren't all births natural? And what is an unnatural birth anyway?"

Date: 2008-10-28 08:53 pm (UTC)Can't believe it'll only be a few more weeks either. It still seems ages in my head. How much stuff you buy, you're never truly prepared for the day you bring that little baby home I guess.

Date: 2008-10-28 10:50 pm (UTC)And I know you wouldn't think about naming your daughter in the spirit of our US holiday Thanksgiving, but I couldn't resist passing on this URL because it seemed to be up your teaching alley.... ;-)

Date: 2008-10-29 10:01 am (UTC)Still yesterday P. said: "This is really Deadwood: how they show a storyline by having people walk around camp. Actually they don't talk that much with each other anyway."

Date: 2008-10-29 04:10 pm (UTC)Deadwood is great, but we still haven't finished it yet - you need to be alert to watch it and during term I'm just too tired at nights. We don't have subtitles, so that makes it even harder. It's brilliant though.

Date: 2008-10-29 04:15 pm (UTC)Oh that post meant to go as a reply to the post above.
Only six more weeks? Wow. Time does indeed fly.
When does your maternity leave start?
And at some point, you'll have to spill the beans about little bit's name. There is something I plan to do for you and her when I'm at home recuperating and without the name I can't do it. But I can wait for her arrival, if you prefer, but it'll mean a little delay in getting my project finished.

Date: 2008-10-29 04:34 pm (UTC)Anyways I'll be home starting the 10th of November. Just one more week of work after this break and then I'll be home! I'll need it. Last week was very tiring, and with all the walking around I had those hard bellies constantly.
Since I'll be home when you're recuperating I might let something slip in a chat-session. ;-)

Date: 2008-10-29 04:25 pm (UTC)We used to watch Deadwood on Fri or Sat but there's currently too much other television that is weekend watching, like The Shield and Dexter, but we'll return to Deadwood at some point.
