The green parrots that live in large colonies in the nearby park have a built-in freshly-washed-car-radar. The tiny grey car we drive in had to sleep outside one night, because we'd forgotten the remote for the garage and were too lazy to go back outside. Parrot-radar picked up on it, and next morning we were greeted by a very cranky little car, laden in excrements.
So off we went to the car wash. The yellow pages pointed us to a nearby drive-through. That would be good enough to get the biggest heaps of shit off the car. At the place we were greeted by a couple of eager youngsters, throwing themselves on our car with hose and sponge. They scrubbed all bird-shit of the car, and then we were cheerfully guided through the machine. After having dried the car, one lad even went out on the street to hold up oncoming traffic, so we wouldn't collide in our sparkly clean vehicle.
Leaving them all there, hard working in their jeans and tiny t-shirts, I could picture them when they would sometimes act a fool, but the boss don't mind, because he's cool. Working at the car wash: sometimes it looks like a song from way back.
