During our end-of-school-year-lunch my colleague declared my baby will be a girl. She "gets vibes off pregnant women" and has only been wrong once – according to her own words. I'm having my next ultrasound in a month's time, and since P. and I are such terrible name-seekers we really want to know the kid's gender beforehand. So, let the guessing games begin: What's it gonna be, a boy or a girl? You've got till July 24th to decide. Oh, and if you know of any good names for either, your suggestions are welcome – remember though this is a Dutch-speaking household and one of the grandmothers speaks French.

Looks like this is a girls year! Every pregnant woman I knew or heard of had a girl this year.


Of course you could be the exception that makes the rule...So, as I like you to be extraordinary, I bet on a boy. :-)

As for the name...Daan? ;-)

My friend had a boy, and another couple we know had a boy as well, who was called Daan. It's really quite a common name these days, and as I like my child to be extraordinary, a boy won't be called Daan. ;-)

Thinking about it, I believe boys and girls are a bit evenly distributed amongst my friends and acquaintances.

I have absolutely no idea so I'm going to stick with the knowledgable colleague and say a girl.

I have no idea what names could be Dutch but I've always liked Ava and Noemi.
