It's one of the common oddities I come across when meeting people I don't see that often: the question whether my curls are all natural. Yesterday an middle-aged lady shook my hand and immediately popped the question as a means of getting to know each other. I smiled and nodded and said: "Had those since I was a wee little baby." "I always wanted to have curls like that, she replied." It's the standard conversation. At least she didn't touch my hair, like my headteacher did once in a fit of crazy, or like
gingerpig sometimes has to endure.

Date: 2008-04-20 04:19 pm (UTC)I did have long hair at that point, but curly. It's gone rather short (above my shoulders and very layered) these days, which I like better. The only unfortunate thing about my short hair is that I can't use all my hair clips anymore.
When I still played the guitar regularly I also got asked if that were my real nails. Now I tend to keep them short. I dislike typing with long nails. (Or I got asked why I had long nails on one hand and short on the other.)

Date: 2008-04-20 04:28 pm (UTC)You played guitar? This post is turning into a revelation. ;-.) I can type with long nails if they're not too long. I think having really long nails looks sort of trashy anyway, much like fake ones.

That's true. I just don't bother to file them, so end up with much too long nails, and then decide to cut them, because that is so much quicker.
