I understand Livejournal's Adult Content flagging system. It's a good idea for porn RPG's or LJs with pictures of nude persons to be able to lock them, or put a warning sign up, so people don't trip over things they might find offensive. I get that. So why do certain people on my flist, with perfectly good LJs, suddenly want to lock them for minors? I see the tantalising quote between brackets "You are about to view content that may not be appropriate for minors" and my stomach tingles and curiosity peaks. Shiny gems of naugthyness, I think. But what I get is what normal adults do on normal days. If those certain people think these concepts are too adult for the average minus-14 year old, let me tell you this: The average minus 14yo isn't easily shocked by concepts (s)he doesn't understand. (S)he is merely bored.
Please flag appropriate, and don't make me click through twice, so I can read your life. I prefer reading it directly on my flist.

I've only spotted this warning today because I wasn't logged in.

If you're logged in and go for the don't collapse option in your viewing options, you won't be bothered by the weird cuts.

I hadn't filled out my birthdate, which seemed to have provoked the stupid thing. When I went to change it, I couldn't even get the don't collapse option. Maybe I can do it now since I've posted my birth year. You know I find it very frustrating I have to give them my birth year in order to be able to do this. I can lie about it if I weren't 14, can't I? The PTB at LJ have been pestering me for ages btw to get me to fill out my biography and interests, which I still don't do. I like to have some kind of anonymity without having to go into private or friends only mode.

I still think it's wierd people choosing the adult option on a normal LJ.
