Seven things to write about in seven days:
  1. Apathy when it comes to current events in Belgian politics

  2. The peculiarity of morality courses

  3. A six year old kid with an extremely pessimistic world view

  4. His Dark Materials

  5. The importance of singing

  6. The difference between taking the metro and taking the bus (or why I sometimes prefer the tram)

  7. Reading as a means to open your mind (or why teaching primary school children sometimes deadens your intellectual creativity)

You can't leave us hanging like that!

I gather you didn't go to the unity march then? That made top news on the tagesschau-website yesterday.

I want to know more about your seven points!

Exactly what I was going to say !

Except that I would have mentioned the French media instead of tagesschau-website.

Nope, that's not my cuppa tea. I did see the horrible posters around here, and as a Belgian I preferred not to be associated with those.

Since I live in Brussels, hardly speak any French (although I do speak French with [livejournal.com profile] frenchani), and have pupils with every nationality that's not Belgian, I've got mixed feelings towards extra independance for Flanders. Maybe I simply have mixed feelings towards every kind of fanatic behaviour (also when it involves fandom!)

That's what I had assumed. The way it was presented on German tv, it seemed more like a desperate attempt by the brave Belgian citizens to get their politicians to see sense and to prevent the country from breaking apart.

But on the other hand, any kind of nationalism usually scares me, because it is so often about looking down on those that aren't perceived to belong.

I am looking forward to 1, 4, 3 (MK?), 6... actually all of them.

I think MK is a bit younger. I thought it might be Smarty Pants, but I just checked back and he's 8 years old... So, it's someone new.

New kid in the classroom since the start of the school year. (6 is the age at which they go to primary school and end up in my class.)
