Three More Weeks
Jun. 8th, 2007 09:48 pmLast afternoon of teaching this week. I go down to the playground with Miss E., the fourth grade teacher. "Three more weeks!" I say to her. It's a common game between us to count down to whichever break comes next and to discuss what we'll be doing in our upcoming free time. Now the big one is approaching: the two month break between school years. Just three more weeks of teaching.
"Are you doing anything that last week?" she asks.
"Not really," I say.
"Better say two more weeks then!"
It's only a little difference in perception, but the school year has suddenly become a week shorter.
