What happened?

Just didn't sing as well as I could due to nerves etc. And then got some remarks that make me a tad sad. I know they were meant well, but they just don't go down too well. Ach, I'll get over it. One time I'll learn to sing without the nerves.

Oh dear. Perhaps you could use the remarks to strive to do better? But it must sting all the same. *hugs*

Thanks. I don't know. Yes? It doesn't matter now. I've got some other things on my plate that I hope can be sorted out in a week or two, maybe three. I'm a bit in a "let's blame the self" mood. Although I can't really do much about it, and frankly it probably wasn't my fault to begin with. (That other thing, not the singing. *g*)

As long as you still know that it wasn't really your fault!

Letting grass grow over it (as we say in German, not sure if that saying exists in English as well) might help too. Distraction is awfully handy at times!

The expression sounds familiar, so I think we say something similar in Dutch. Although we're more prone to throw sand over something -- but that would be a dispute.

Ach ja. Still have some work to do for tomorrow...

Maybe try to channel that nervousness into the emotional feeling of the song? Does that make sense to you? When I was young and was in the then state (they don't do it any more) music competitions, I would take my nervousness and try to think about the emotion that the piano piece I was going to play. I think making that link, created new feeling in my playing; and I wasn't the best pianist, I was actually an organist - but the state contest didn't cover organ! It must of worked I got firsts [kinda like an honorable mention] every time I was in it.

But I know it is surely a bit different when the instrument you're playing is your own voice.... *hugs*

Thanks for the advice. When I did theatre that would help: just get completely into the emotion of the part and then nothing mattered.

But for singing technique is so all important, and I wasn't as powerful as I could. I just don't seem to have that extra strength to be able to work against the nervousness...
