Anticlimax
Apr. 26th, 2007 08:24 pmThe whole thing was a bit anticlimactic, with the members of the jury gushing over his elaborate, but dense thesis. The presentation was, well, a presentation of someone reading his keynote slides out loud to the audience. I did offer to do it for him, but regulation won't allow it. Probably even a non-speaker like Stephen Hawking has to say something when defending his thesis. I did hear afterwards P. has done worse, and for once he was quite clear on what he was trying to say. I guess this will be the only moment I'll ever refer to him by his earned title: as of yesterday it's P. PhD.
There is this one thing though... How can someone with such a good knowledge of the English used in his field, mispronounce "determined" in such a horrendous way?
