On teen break-ups
Apr. 6th, 2007 05:30 pmDanah boyd researches teenager's behaviour with social networking tools like Myspace. I have never been the typical teenager when it came to social networking in a time when the internet was only a military tool and mobile phones were only mobile because you could carry them, not because they were handy to drag along in your purse. With strange eyes I looked at publicly displayed love and break-ups. Over time (10+ years have gone by since) teenage behaviour hasn't changed much. It has only gone digital. Danah provides some insight in how and why it has gone Myspace, because actual dates in "meatspace" simply aren't that frequent – and weren't that frequent back in the day when I lusted after what I couldn't get.
