Lost and Found.
Jan. 7th, 2007 05:25 pmI've known S. for almost a decade. We hooked up in 1997 when I came to Brussels, and kept somewhat in touch ever since. I think we've fallen more out of touch, than we've actualy been in touch, because like everything else in his life, S. sometimes misplaces me. And then, totally out of the blue he finds me again in his inbox with a Christmas card. How full of joy his words are, when he discovers I still exist and wasn't lost forever, like an old file after your first computer crash. I roll my eyes at his greatest discovery. I've been here all along. Nothing new to see here, just move along. If you want to make an appointment you can use your phone. But like everything else in his life S. sometimes misplaces his phone – three or four times this year. It doesn't occur to him there are ways to recover lost phone numbers.
This absentmindedness and total lack of pragmatic insight in the workings of the world can be condensed in one net-expression: *facepalm*
