In which Frances learns the difference between being in love and loving someone

7 year old Smarty Pants and I are painting sad lines. They're suppossed to be grey, because grey is a sad colour. The grey is a bit too dark, though, and I'm trying to get it lighter by adding layers of white. It seems to work.

Smarty Pants: I know with whom the gym teacher is in love.
Me: Oh, and with whom is that, if I may be so bold to inquire?
S.P.: With our form teacher.
Me: Ah, and do you reckon she loves him back?
S.P.: Nah, of course not.
Me: That's not so nice, when you're in love with someone and they don't love you back.
S.P.: No it isn't. (silence) I was in love once. And she loved me back, so that was nice. But it's over now.

We've finished the sad lines and are now making happy ones with blue and red – happy colours according to S.P.

Me: Be careful not to mix red and blue. You'll get purple. I think that's a happy colour, but maybe you don't.
S.P.: No, I don't want purple. That's a colour for girls.
Me: You sound like you don't like girls.
S.P.: No, I don't.
Me: But just a moment ago you told me you had been in love with one.
S.P.: Yes, but being in love with someone, doesn't mean you love them!
Me: Oh, what's the difference?
S.P.: You're only in love with someone because she's beautiful, and that's all.

Did you change your layout? I usually can't see it when I reply, but I clicked on your name here and got to see it.

But I didn't interview him! We weren't even talking about loving someone etc. He's just like that: says whatever's on his mind. Especialy since he's the only kid doing morality in that class he can talk very grown-up sometimes.

I did change the layout, because I was a bit tired of the old one. But because everyone simply reads my LJ on their friends-pages, I didn't bother to say it. It's a default layout, though, because I need to work with the css to change everything, and I didn't have much time for the trial and error method of changing it. I did succeed in getting the lines closer together, and changing the colours of the links.
