It doesn't make sense in my mind: the wind tugging at trees, turning umbrellas inside out, blowing wet papers across the streets. A city should be immune for nature's wrath. It's on the open plains that we see women in dark, long skirts wade home against the wind. By the sea the waves come crashing in, but not in the city, not in this concrete wasteland. I forgot how the force of nature does play, fold my umbrella, and tug it under my arm. It isn't in carts that roll through the mud, but wade against the wind, we must.

And new children in the school I teach. Tuesday afternoon I fill in for other teachers. I hate it. It goes wrong every time and I feel like shit. Sorry for ranting. I didn't mean to...

Filling in for others is usually a thankless task and the kids just love teasing the sub. Do you get teaching material at least or do you have to go in and just find something to do for the kids?

I had a nice conversation with Good Friend (aka A.) on the phone yesterday. That was fun. A. is always jolly great to talk with, especialy since his problems are always bigger than mine, and then we start bickering who's worst off. At the moment he is. I still have warm water. He still hasn't.
