Astro Boy takes on El Tigre Metalico!

It wasn't the best episode of Angel's Season 5. It didn't solve anything or moved the story arc along. It simply featured "Number 5", that mail man we saw slouching through the Wolfram & Hart building almost every single episode. That didn't mean there's nothing to like about episode 6, The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco. I loved the how the Mexican feel was in everything featured in that episode, from the way Numero Cinco honours his dead brothers, over the wrestling, to the music. They used Calexico's Guero Canelo, a moment that made me go "Ooh, I know that song!" I loved the fighting. I digged the masks. It all did fit. Tragedy and comedy roled into one, like those real Mexican wrestlers do, here photographed by Malcolm Venville for his book Lucha Loco.

I love wrestlers!

I got hooked when I was teaching in China 6 years ago. The only English television channel was ESPN and they showed wrestling twice a week. It was terrible, and it was great!
The Rock, Sean O'Hare, ... I loved the acrobatic ones.

I actually made a webpage once on it (making fun of that awful wrestling show on Kanaal2) and that Belgian wrestler, Bernard Vandamme, who presented it started emailing me and wanted to meet me. So I went to one of his shows (with my boyfriend), but I didn't get to meet him because during his match he broke his elbow and had to be taken to the hospital. Quite hilarious. (Though I guess not for him)

Yes, there was an honest-to-god wrestling show on Kanaal 2 on Sunday afternoon. It was so excruciatingly bad it was good.

I haven't seen the last episode of Dawson's Creek. I still wonder who Katie Holmes eventually ended up with, Pacey or Dawson. Sometimes it wakes me up at night.

(Yes, my boyfriend reads my LJ and the comments and sometimes knows someone commented before I even noticed.)
