Cross-posted to [livejournal.com profile] salon_virtuel, but also on here to reach a possibly larger audience.

I'm proud to announce the kick-off of On the Road: The Travelling Salon. A notebook will be sent through the world, and scans and pictures of the pages will be posted when they are filled. If you want to take part in this project please email your name and address to [livejournal.com profile] frances_lievens [franceslievens at gmail.com]. Names will be added to the mailing list in a first comes, first served principle: the first mail I receive will be the first to receive the notebook.

What do I do exactly when I sign up for this?
You sit and wait at home for a notebook to arrive. It'll be a black Moleskine sketchbook, 13x21cm, 100 pages thick.
When it arrives you can keep it one week to fill a double page before sending it off to the next person.

How do I know who that next person is?
When you're ready, you contact me and I'll send you the address of the next person the notebook must be sent to. I will also email that person to confirm the notebook will be arriving, so (s)he will be able to get in touch if our black traveller got lost.

What do I do with the work I made?
Before sending the book to the next recipient you digitalise your entry in it, either through scanning or taking a picture of it. I highly recommend making a high resolution scan (300 dpi): In case the book gets lost, you still have a copy of your artwork.
The next Saturday you post your entry to [livejournal.com profile] salon_virtuel, using the tag the exhibition wall. You can do this in two ways:
1. You have an LJ: In this case you make your own post (title = On the Road: The Travelling Salon). Make sure the picture isn't too big, because this will mess up the layout. A 400 px width is more than enough. If you really want to show off big pictures, please put them under a cut.
2. You don't have an LJ or wish to stay anonymous: Email your scan to me and I'll post it. Please let me know if you wish to use a pseudonym or your own name.

Can I do whatever I like with my pages?
Yes you can, but the maintainers of [livejournal.com profile] salon_virtuel reserve the right to delete an entry that's racist, offensive or illegal.
You cannot deface or alter the notebook itself or another person's entry in it.

What about my name and address?
This information will be kept confidential. Your name and address will be known by two people only: the person sending you the book and I. I will not give out this information to a third party.
It would be nice for participants to reveal their location on posting, so we can follow the notebook's whereabouts. This is, of course, not compulsory.

But I'll be on a holiday!
So will I, therefore the notebook won't be sent out before the 17th of July. When you contact me to take part, please provide "down times", when you won't be at your address for a longer period of time. I'll try and work the schedule around those.

Any other questions and remarks can be sent to me through email, or posted here as a comment.

I hope I'll get a huge amount of replies from eager readers.

Yours, Frances
