Pseudonymous lives
May. 25th, 2006 09:26 pmP. asked me to write this entry some time ago. "When you have time and nothing else to say, I'd love to read it." That time has come.
I call her Hadise, because she's Turkish and likes the Belgo-Turkish singer who currently hosts Turkish Idol. I've got to give her a name anyway, so why not give her the name of someone she adores. With most of them I'm not that innovative: P., A., J. and S. kindly provided me with their real life initials. I don't have to hide for someone. The possibility of being found out is still rather small, and I don't mind someone knowing who I'm talking about. I generally know when to keep my mouth shut.
Other bloggers use other names, other handles to refer to house-mates, house-guests and spooks without a weblife. First and foremost there's the significant other, mostly refered to as Mr or Mrs. But she's a girl has Mr bsag. Bitch Ph.D. talks about Mr B. He sometimes posts as well.
chrissie_linnit makes it easy and has a spouse. I think in the earlier days on the Cross and Stake he was also called Hagrid, because of the hairy legs and masculine chest. Chrissie is also one of the most consistent bloggers I met in naming what she affectionatly has come to call "the Linnit clan": there's of course spouse, but also 4 Linnit sprogs concurrently called EldestGirlLinnit, EldestBoyLinnit, TeenLinnit and MiniLinnit. If
chrissie_linnit's clan owned a cat it would be called LinnitFur – or Crookshanks.
Children do seem to live with the most interesting pseudonyms on the internet.
gingerpig's Little Man has grown up to something Small & Stinky. MK is living with the only pseudonym I thought somewhat through before posting it: an abreviation of the Dutch word for goddaughter. It does echo Bitch's PK, the only real Pseudonymous Kid ever to live in this realm of ideas.
With pseudonyms come wishes. Not only do we make something of ourself by posting and writing, we also make something from the people we live with, the persons that we hang out with, the ones that ask us (not) to blog certain things. You can wonder what they will say once they read the words that are written on them, for certainly they will never agree with anything that might offend them.

I don't know if I fit your description Chrissie. I do have the feeling that I'm more liberal on here. I seem to be less restrained when typing, than when talking. But a true child of the sixties? First, I was born in the 70s, and second, I've got a big mouth, but a small heart. ;-)
LJ is private for me. My family knows about me spending too much time on the internet and making friends there, but they never care to ask where I make them or how I keep in touch. It's my own little playground and they let me have it. My sister has the link to my LJ, but doesn't care to read it. She also took a look over on the BC&S, but didn't want to participate there either. She's more the lurky typ of person and mainly uses the internet to find information rather than have fun, and that's so for most of my family.
I like that you fit P's initial to the context. Funny. Now I'll wonder what P. will mean for you every time I mention him. *g*

Date: 2006-05-26 01:49 pm (UTC)In the other post (it probably stretched over a fre posts actually, and drifted into Chani's LJ as well) you started discussions about open relationships, polygamy and stuff... again, in my mind, very much the mindset of the liberal, flower in hair wearing, 1960's...
Please, please don't ever tell me that you and P go out picking Magic Mushrooms! *g*
;D
I think I always think od Sister Luck or Sister Ray as Sis... Although I have a sis, our Sis, and you guys, knows more about me than my own siblings. And you're all mine... MINE, I say!

Date: 2006-05-26 02:24 pm (UTC)Yep, P. wears sandals, and slippers. But he isn't the only man in my life walking the world barefoot when it's hot! The different outfits of those others even go as far as pink flipflops. Not really Jesus Creepers, hey. (At least P. won't be caught wearing flipflops, thank god. His feet aren't made for them.)
The relationship thingy is something rather new to me, to be honest. I made that post ages ago, I know, but was just coming to understand that certain way of living. And of course I'm a jealous bitch and not one woman will ever be good enough for my P., so don't go thinking about lending him. ;-)

Date: 2006-05-30 06:11 pm (UTC)sister_ray is very much me. sister_luck was secondbest, but not entirely meaningless. I'm a lucky gal in a lot of senses and there's also the song by the Black Crowes and I'm very fond of that band for various reasons.
*hugs*

I don't know that Black Crowes song. I like the couple of songs I know by them and that's it, I guess.
