Google enlarging its kingdom?
May. 14th, 2006 09:12 pmI checked my gmail just now and noticed Google has introduced a chat-function. I don't have that many gmail-users in my account there, so I was wondering now, would it be worth to try it or are you all saying "Frances, stick with good old AIM, please"?
I'm ignoring the ones that'll come out and ask me to please please please make an MSN-account, so they actually will be able to chat with me for once.

Date: 2006-05-16 08:46 am (UTC)I specifically got AIM so I would be able to talk to you. I even had to update my messaging client as its earlier version was blocked (I think) by the evil AOL people. It worked for a while - but you were never online when I was, but now it won't accept me as online anymore. Damn. Will try to trouble-shoot in the next couple of days. Not sure whether it has been blocked again or it's the our new system, but I'd love to chat to you again.

But it's true that using that doesn't come pre-installed can be a pain in the ass. It's one of the reasons why I only use iChat. There are certain programs that let you use three different platforms at once (MSN, Jabber and AIM), but those aren't as userfriendly.

Date: 2006-05-16 11:27 am (UTC)No pre-installed stuff on this 'puter, so have been using the miranda client - which is quite userfriendly - except for the AIM problem.
My username is in my profile on lj - visible to my friendslist. I put you in my buddylist, but I've got to sort out the AIM letting me go online problem first.
