Phone conversation with silences
May. 9th, 2006 04:52 pm"If I'd only tell you what I have to tell, then we wouldn't have anything to talk about." His statement is followed by a meaningful silence to let it sink in, until I smirk at him through the phone. As always I don't have too much to add, whatever he throws at my feet.
"I reckon you actually don't want to know what I happen to be thinking about." I'm still convinced I lead a boring life.
"Frances, I'm this voyeuristic bastard," he replies, "and you, well, aren't much of an exhibitionist. My questions lead me no-where."
"You ask questions I can't or won't answer."
"You're a strange girl." And that is a compliment.

Date: 2006-05-09 12:12 pm (UTC)A., a bachelor by vocation, was btw asking about my healthy and loving relationship, and I was tired of the question, so didn't want to answer, hence his remark on voyeurism vs exhibitionism. ;-)
