Welcome to FrancesVille!
Apr. 12th, 2006 02:03 pmI've built a complete city, put animals, humans and traffic in it and named it FrancesVille. Want to take a look? Click on the lj-cut.

The above imagery comes courtesy of Flemish illustrator Pieter Goudesaboos. I only took it and played with the little houses he designed for a book commisioned by Bunkerhotel and written together with Koen De Poorter. The book and website however are only available in Dutch, but don't let this stand in your way to take a look around and build your own city.
More books from Pieter Goudesaboos can be found on his publisher's website. (All in Dutch!)
eta: There's a floating icecream-stall in my city, and to get rid of it, I'll probably will have to rebuild it. I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cost...

Date: 2006-04-12 06:27 am (UTC)The book is fabulous btw. It's a fairytale on how cities come into existence and grow. They should translate it in English -- as they should with all books by Pieter Goudesaboos. I adore his work. :-)

Date: 2006-04-17 05:48 am (UTC)Then you choose what you want to put into your city (on the left):
gebouwen = buildings
mensen = people
dieren = animals
omgeving = surroundings
spel = play
verkeer = traffic
Clicking on those will change the images on the bottom of the left hand column. Now you can drag those little images from that part of the column and drop them on the right hand side of the page you're viewing. If you don't like what you've done you pick it up again and drop it back into the left hand column.
Finished? Click on "Klaar met bouwen". The site will ask you to give a background story for your city and you can add an email. You'll get a notification with a link where you can view your city. (I made a screen capture from that location myself to be able to put it online here as well...)
Hope I could be of a bit of help. I'm online at the mo, so if you're trying to find a way out...

Date: 2006-04-18 09:16 am (UTC)If you look at Brussels it doesn't fit the scheme completely, since a lot of the old buildings got torn down as well.
