I've read Amélie Nothomb's Robert des noms propres in record time of half of it yesterday and the rest this afternoon. I thought I would be reading till I arrived at uni, but actually I've finished the book allready. Amélie Nothomb is definately a good choice if you want a quick read in French. Easy, not too long and the letters are really big. *g* Didn't like the last three pages very much. So if you wanna read it: rip those out before you start. It's quite a good book then. Nice and easy and very much full of very Amélie Nothomb like stuff. Did I mention easy allready? Gotta go and catch my tram now.

Ok, I might be completely wrong but..

Amélie Nothomb is a Belgian writer. She's rather big here and in France. Writes a lot and her books aren't very long, which is good if you have to read it for an exam :-). You must like her to enjoy the books. I know a lot of people who very much detest Nothomb's work and I don't think it's the best I've ever read.

Her best known book is Stupeur et tremblements, about her time in a Japanese firm. It's made into a film with the same title. I've never seen it, so don't know if it's any good. The book is verry funny though.

Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, is an original screenplay I believe. (great great film btw -- I really should buy the dvd)
