It's been a long time since I was struck by a couple of words that seemed endlessly simpler when I didn't think about them.

This from Eurythmics' Love Is a Stranger:

I love everything the Eurythmics have ever done. As an artistic pair, they are brilliant. As solo artists, they're OK. Didn't rate Annie's last album much - a bit self-indulgent and preachy for me.

Dave Stewart write powerful lyrics and Annie delivers them powerfully.

Never been too big on Annie Lennox' solo things either.

I've never bothered listening to Eurythmics' lyrics. Now P. has bought their "Ultimate Collection" through iTunes and I love singing along, so I went looking for the lyrics and suddenly realised how powerful they are. Been loving every second of this album. It contains some very strong and equally classic popsongs.
