franceslievensMy companion during the three-week-trip through Québec (and for some time after that) has been Susanna Clarke's wonderful Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. Apart from the author's tiny mistake with regard to the existence of Belgium, this book is so well documented with fictive data that it's unbelievable to read. Or maybe just too believable to read. You start to wonder if there is some magic left in England after all.
