Saying it's the first day of school today is stating the obvious. Since the school environments I dwell in, are rather lame and mind numbing lots of the time, I'll go and search for a spark of inspiration in every teaching day. I'll photograph it, and put it up with a little comment. Let it be an inspiration to you, teachers and non-teachers. First post will be up later this evening.

First day of school and the little ones not only have to get to know one, but two new teachers on this day. I teach them on Monday, so we make our acquaintances. I already know the kids from the year up that are in the same class with them. They already try to heckle and whine. The young ones are silent and shy. How do I get to know them? By having them draw their favorite tv-show. In bright colours K. makes up a story about aliens. M. goes all out with the characters of Super Mario. "That's also a tv-show, Miss," he assures me. As if I, who watched super Mario on tv before knowing it was a video game, didn't know that. Task for next week: assembling little televisions for the kids to use to talk about what they like and love.
