My dear friend A.'s first son was born yesterday evening. This morning I get an email telling the wonderful news to family and friends, but one thing's missing: a name. Instead A. decided to make a little game and have us all guessing, and me pretty angry. I don't like to congratulate parents on the birth of their nameless child, and I don't like playing silly games that I can't win. On top of that A. is a fan of classic literature and a classic culture buff. Together with P. we found six of the eight letters, and lo and behold I found a name, one that fit both Dutch and French, since the baby's mother is French. So I congratulate dear A. on the birth of his now named son.
This evening I sit myself down to look up the last missing letters. And they don't fit the name I found at first. It's something very different altogether and every question was already a hint. I now feel very stupid and am silently cursing A. for wanting to show off his literacy.
