The right words
Jul. 8th, 2007 12:43 pmI notice other people finishing my sentences for me the last week – like they do with a foreigner who doesn't know the right words in the language he's speaking. I'm speaking my mother tongue when it happens. I'm at a loss for the easiest words – agency, office, radiator... I simply mumble and stutter while my mind goes blank, like it did when I was muddling through oral exams so many years ago. Even the lengthy phone conversations with A. that were once the paragon of the correct words, have become a mess with pauses and stumbling. I can only argue that the nothingness of holidaying has eaten my vocabulary. Or I'm still coming down from the stressful rush of the last weeks of school.
