Headbanging on the bus
Jan. 12th, 2007 07:33 pmSince the passing of the holidays headphones have become more prevalent on means of public transportation. Lots of people must have had a gadget-filled Christmas. (So did I, because I'm now the proud owner of a pair of AKG headphones, that are unmixy with my glasses, but oh so good quality for their money.) Usualy headphone-wearers don't talk a lot. They sit and stare and listen to their music, but sometimes, in a moment of unrehearsed synchronicity they all start to tap along to their favourite tune, and if they're lucky they're even tapping to the same rhythm.
There's even a kind of mutual respect between big-headphone-wearers. There aren't many of those, but they all chose musical quality over coolness. You can see them signal at each other with their eyes and smiles: they might make themselves deaf, but at least they're rehearsing sign language.
