Ever since I
bought me an eMac, I've kept on using P.'s old Office software, because of all the people that keep on sending me .doc-formats and because I'm most comfortable using Word as a word processing tool. The important word here is
old software. It's designed for Mac's OS 9 environment, so my faithful OS X Panther simulates being an OS 9 and I can still run the old Office. Until this morning. I still had work to do on some preparations for classes this afternoon and the classic environment died on me. It didn't crash, but simply gave up (and started using most of my system until I forced a stop). Bugger that. I don't want to buy new software, because I don't have the money for that. I don't even want to buy Apple's
iWork, although I've heard
very decent things about it. It's more of a layouting tool, than a word processor and it would still cost me € 79. I just want my old software to work again, but unfortunately I ain't no computer wizz...
