It's been ages since I went to the fair. Begging helped and P. decided he wanted to go as well. Thus we trundled to the music, yelling kids and smells of fritters and fries. Walking back and forth over the fair we tried to pick out a ride. P. likes fast and scary, I don't. P. doesn't like high, I do. We almost left without having done any of the rides, not even the new ones, as they were fast and high, so we both kind of backed out of it.
And then we were standing in front of the ferris wheel. It must have been ages since I took a ride on one and I remembered how I used to love the wonderful view you have in it. P. didn't like this idea. "A ferris wheel is high and slow. You aren't buckled up. It's dangerous," he declared. I persuaded him. The ferris wheel is the only opportunity to actually see the front of one of the biggest buildings in Brussels: Le Palais de Justice.
It was great. I saw the Atomium, the cathedral, the city hall. P. clamped his hands around the fence of our box and whined after two rounds that he wanted to get out. It was too high. The box didn't hang perfectly still. He was scared. Although I pointed out he was perfectly safe, he simply enjoyed whining like your everyday teenager untill we were safely on the ground again. Then he declared: "I actually enjoyed the ride." Oh well, he probably had to take revenge for all the times I whine.
