Place Poellaert
Jul. 30th, 2004 05:14 pm"Nice weather hey," he says. You nod. With your mouth full of bacon and carrot tapenade sandwich it's impossible to speak. Most of all, you don't feel like speaking to a stranger. Before you know it they start calling you beautiful and asking for your phone number. So you simply nod and continue enjoying the sun and the view.
The man stays silent for a bit. "Nice view hey," he says. You nod again and suddenly you realise this isn't your everyday stranger asking annoying questions. This is just some bloke enjoying his day off in the sun, like you, wanting to have a little conversation before heading home, just a couple of streets further. So you talk, about sandwiches from Exki, the weather and the view. Actually you mostly listen, because you're eating your bacon and carrot tapenade sandwiches from Exki and can't speak with your mouth full.
When both of you fall silent, he's off again, to his home, just a bit further right across the church. You are left on the bench, contemplating the little chat you just had and how the hell you open that bottle of fruit juice.
